The lease of the Indian Express building at Bhadurshah Zafar Marg had terminated and the government through the late Mr Jagmohan, who was the then LG of Delhi, decided to take possession forcibly. His (Mr Nariman's) strategy was to move a writ petition in the SC alleging violation of freedom of speech.
