It is 10pm on a Saturday and I am sipping champagne with guests at a high society masquerade sex soiree.
The air is heavy with anticipation, designer perfume . . . and desire.
While keen to shed their clothes, some partygoers’ British manners stop them from initiating anything.
It is left to an Italian Stallion to take the lead, playfully lifting his partner’s elegant ball gown and spanking her bare bottom.
Welcome to one of the UK’s most popular sex parties, Killing Kittens.
For the first time, it is hosting its frisky guests in Venice, where their everyday lives are hidden behind masks and inhibitions are abandoned at the door.
Inspired by the 16th century masquerade balls of the region, KK has thrown the ultimate erotic experience in the iconic floating city.
For centuries, Venice has attracted romantics and lotharios alike.
Legendary lover Casanova strutted these streets in the 18th century, and Lord Byron fled here in 1816 after one too many sex scandals in England.
It is the perfect place to lose yourself in the company of someone else.
I arrive during the tail end of the carnival season, along with 100 guests who have jetted in from all over the world.
As The Sun’s Sexpert, I have been granted exclusive access to find out what goes on behind closed doors.
“We have four playrooms tonight,” explains KK founder Emma Sayle as she gives me a private tour of the venue before the debauchery begins.
“After a few hours the masks will come off and guests will trickle off into the side rooms.
“There’s a lot of bisexual girls attending tonight, so you will see a lot of girl-on-girl action.
“You will also see orgies and guests walking around watching. It’s a thousand shades of gray.”
Emma tells how she is no longer fazed by what she sees at her sex soirees, which are often held at sumptuous locations, usually in trendy penthouses or country mansions.
“You’ve got 60 people naked on a bed like Dante’s Inferno, which is pretty wild, but to me that’s pretty average.
“It happens at every party.”
KK has seen a “huge rise” in British mums in their late 30s and 40s attending their raunchy events — and many are here tonight.

“There’s lots of divorced mums who think, ‘We’re not on the shelf, we’ve got a fire inside us, we’ve got passion, we’ve got wants and needs’,” continues Emma, who is pals with Kate Middleton.
“It’s about being unapologetically selfish in the bedroom.
“We’ve got desires, we are not invisible, as people think we are. They want to come and explore and they’ve got disposable income.
“Sex isn’t about reproducing any more. It’s about pleasure. It’s about our time.
“We are more financially independent, which means we can leave husbands and unhappy marriages.
“We don’t have to stay in them.”
This is true for mum of five Lily, 40.
The customer service agent from London tells me she has been a KK member for five years, but this is her first overseas sex party.
“My partner is at home with the kids as it’s half term,” Lily says with a laugh.
“We respect each other and keep in check.
“If he’s going to meet somebody, or if I’m going to meet somebody, we make sure we’re good.
“Every couple has their ups and downs but we make sure there’s nothing to rock the boat.”
Lily tells how she was “looking for adventure” when she signed up to KK, but ended up meeting her partner at a party in London and the pair now have a three-year-old son.
“He came to a party with another woman, ahem,” Lily says with another laugh.
“She’s in our friends group, so it wasn’t like I was stealing anyone. Here at Killing Kittens, we like to share!
“We met that night for the first time and have never parted. I didn’t expect this out of my life.
“I’ve got four children from my previous marriage and my partner has now taken them on as well. It’s the best thing.
“I’m so excited for tonight.
“The glamour and elegance of the Venice party is a level up from London mansions. It’s once in a lifetime.”

Back to tonight and the guests are eager to start stripping.
“It’s herd mentality,” says Emma. “People don’t want to be the first one to do it, but once other people shed theirs, they will too.”
Emma tells how everyone has to arrive wearing a mask and leave it on for two hours until the drinks reception is over.
Other rules include no phones and females being in charge.
“Men can’t go up to women they don’t know,” she continues. “It’s females first. It’s a Kitten’s world.”
KK community manager Tash, 40, a mum from Winchester, Hants, tells me why masks are a must.
“It’s to ensure privacy,” she explains. “One time I was at a party in London and a panicked girl rushed over to me and said, ‘S***, I’ve just spotted my uncle!’.
“Fortunately she was wearing a mask so he didn’t notice.
“We put her in a dark corner and told her to keep her mask on.”
With that, the drinks reception is over and it’s time for me to remove the extravagant green plumage hiding my face.
But other guests at the 650 euros a ticket event are starting to lose a lot more . . .
I spin around to see a glamorous middle-aged blonde woman wearing a 16th century regal Venetian costume.
She looks like she has stepped straight out of Netflix bonkbuster Bridgerton.
“I’m getting a bit hot under the collar, in more ways than one,” she says with a laugh.
Nearby, I meet shy newbie Ed, a 32-year-old banker from London.
“The last time I wore this suit it was at my gran’s funeral,” he tells me. “It feels a tad inappropriate wearing it tonight.
“Every room is like an exhibit from a museum. I had no idea what to expect.”
It is now midnight — and for these guests, the fun is just beginning.
In every corner couples and groups are writhing in pleasure.

“It’s so liberating,” says Lady Jada, 43, a designer and mum of one from Australia, while sipping a cocktail.
“We are more than just mums and housewives.”

“We are in an open relationship and he loves that I go to these parties,” she continues.
“He thinks it’s really sexy and kinky.
“He definitely wants to come with me as a guest.
“But he’s been replaced by some excellent eye candy,” she says with a giggle, nodding in the direction of the muscular security guard.
By 2am, a giant orgy is unfolding in one of the renaissance red rooms.
Elaborate masks — plus expensive and distinctive red-soled Louboutin shoes — are strewn on the floor.
In the morning the guests will revert to their usual personas — mums who greet other parents at the school gates and chat about their little darlings.
Yet for a brief period tonight they escaped the confines of marriage and motherhood and were unapologetically selfish.
