Oliver Glasner has batted away questions about being linked with the Tottenham job last summer, joking that he was only focused on his vacation at the time.
Glasner developed a reputation as one of the best-emerging managers in European football during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Not only did he lead the club to Europa League glory in the 2021-22 season but the German club also gave a decent showing in last season’s Champions League, finishing one point behind Tottenham in Group D before being beaten by Napoli in the round of 16.
He was one of the names mooted as a potential replacement for Antonio Conte at Spurs last summer, with some outlets even suggesting at the time that he was at the top of the North London club’s wishlist (Football Transfers) before they eventually turned to Ange Postecoglou.

Glasner has found himself in the Premier League eight months later, replacing Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park and the Australian will come to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in his first away challenge as Palace boss.
Ahead of the game, he was asked about the speculation linking him with the Spurs job, with the 49-year-old simply responding (via Edmund Brack): “Last summer? No. I was on vacation.”

Glasner could have potentially landed a bigger job had he waited a bit longer and there is no doubt that Palace have done really well to get him.
