Still steamy, still small
Hello Friends,
Another humid and hazy morning for Sydneysiders. Surf prospects are minimal, with only a faint 5-second period NE wind bump wafting in. It’d be generous to call it thigh-high. Still, the water’s clean and a tropical 24, while the sea breezes were light before 0800. They’ll pick up later – unlike the surf.
Tomorrow’s set to be warmer and, if anything, tinier on the surf front than today’s supine offerings.
Monday will be rather different. If the swell models have it right, we could wake to 3 metres of dead south swell at 10+ seconds. There’s quite a divergence between the ECMWF and GFS models for Monday. The ECMWF shows swell at 2 metres, dead south at 11 seconds with 15-30 kts of southerly. The GFS predicts slightly less southerly wind, but reckons the dead south swell could be 3 metres at a whopping 18 seconds apart. Both models show light wind conditions for the early on Tuesday, with GFS showing 2.3 metres at 13 seconds, and ECMWF predicting 2 metres at 11 seconds. So, forget Monday and if you’re fit and an experienced rider, circle Tuesday morning at your favourite south magnet.
Both models show the swell sticking around for the rest of the week and with light wind for the early sessions. So that’s good.
Have a great Saturday!
