The Nation's Weather
The Nation's Weather for Saturday, March 2, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Heavy rain and snow will continue across the West today as a
strong storm travels eastward across the region. Feet of
snow will pile up in the Sierra Nevada, where high winds
will combine to make for a blizzard with road closures and
power outages. In the Northwest, snow can mix with rain to
start the day in the lowlands. Thousands of miles to the
east, another storm will bring rain to much of the Northeast
and thunderstorms can erupt farther south in Alabama,
Georgia and Florida. Strong winds will develop across much
of the West as well as the center of the country. The strong
winds, building warmth and dry fuels will lead to a risk of
dangerous, fast-moving wildfires over the Plains to the
Upper Midwest. Temperatures will challenge record-high
levels during the day and at night.
