‘I have to try it soon,’ drivers cry as Mini owner discovers hidden tech feature – but many worry it’s a ‘distraction’
DRIVERS in the new Mini Cooper have discovered a hidden feature on the car’s iconic dashboard.
The circular infotainment in the center of Mini vehicles has been a mainstay for the car producer – but the new feature has some mixed reviews.
Car journalists have found a hidden DJ button on the vehicle’s infotainment system.
While listening to music, a Mini driver can swipe four fingers toward the driver’s side.
The car’s giant, circular display will project a record-like digital display that rotates clockwards.
Drivers can press and hold on to the infotainment system to pause the audio track.
A professional car reviewer posted a video of the hidden feature on Instagram.
However, viewers in the comments section weren’t particularly impressed with the DJ tech.
“Why can’t we go back to having mechanical cars instead of digital nonsense,” one commenter posted with over 3,000 likes.
Other commenters said the infotainment’s reaction time wasn’t fast enough.
“One more reason to distract drivers,” another driver worried.
However, one Mini driver said they would try to use the DJ system in their car.
“I have to try it soon,” the Mini driver said.
MODERN MINI
The Mini Cooper will receive a facelift for 2025.
A sharper face structure, more rigid lines rear-lights, and a revamped interior highlight the Cooper’s new design aspects.
The 2025 Mini Cooper variant is the final combustion engine model for the iconic car.
Updates will run for the car’s three and five-door variants.
The Mini Cooper, a car that first hit the market in 1961, will go all electric by 2030.
Mini’s parent company, BMW, announced that the entire Mini lineup would be electrified over the next decade.
The company is also shifting to automatic-only transmissions.
A Mini spokesperson confirmed the British car company will cease manual transmission production for the next lineup.
