I’m obsessed with sunbeds and even use nasal sprays to make my tan darker, trolls warn me about cancer but I won’t stop
A MAN has been warned about the dangers of developing skin cancer after sharing the extreme measures he takes to achieve a bronzed complexion.
Winter is practically over and whilst many are already booking their summer holidays, one bloke is spending this time to make his skin ”darker”.
The bloke, who appears to be running his very own nasal spray brand, @godarkertanning_official, can regularly be seen popping in a sunbed, despite them long being linked with skin cancer.
As well as relaxing and bronzing up with the harsh tanning method – which has been banned in countries like Australia and Brazil – the beauty lover swears by special nasal sprays.
In a recent video posted on TikTok, the man – who’s also been compared to the disgraced reality star Stephen Bear due to his looks – showed how he used the nasal spray whilst in the sunbed.
Posing with his sparkly pearly whites, the tanning lover said: ”Summer is coming, time to get darker.”
”It has never been as easy to be golden brown all year round,” the ink fanatic added in the caption.
But although the NHS urges to stay away from sunbeds due to the harmful UV rays, the man has developed an emotional relationship with them.
Speaking of their ”true love story”, the tanning super fan revealed he can just about go a day without sunbeds – and will be ”missing” them on the days he doesn’t pop in for a quick bronzing session.
”You know I’m such a fool for you,” he chuckled in a clip.
And it seems that there is no such thing as being ”dark enough” in his world – as no matter what others will say, the Stephen Bear lookalike will find it difficult to say ”no” to a sunbed.
According to the bloke, he’s been told he doesn’t ”need another sunbed” as his skin is already bronzed enough – and to this, the beauty lover recently hit back to the haters.
”Sun-kissed skin is always in, time to go darker tanning.”
However, whilst he may be all chuffed with the tanned complexion, concerned people on social media have warned him to steer clear from sunbeds.
Not only do they remind the beauty lover that this can lead to ”cancer” – but that he’s also gone a bit too far.
”Has he been on the barbecue?” another wondered.
”What shade is that? Need to paint the fence,” someone else chimed in.
”Sunbeds are dangerous, just be careful,” a fellow social media user reminded.
The dangers of using sunbeds
According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), there is significant evidence to show that using tanning beds can lead to melanoma.
The experts reported that sunbeds increase the risk of skin cancer by up to a whopping 20 per cent, and also state that they have no positive benefits to our health.
Sharing her expertise, Carol Cooper, Sun Doctor, said: ”Let’s be clear about sunbeds. It’s not just ‘some’ experts that say they’re bad for your skin. It’s almost all of them.
”Actually, anyone who’s ever used a sunbed is at least 20% more likely to develop malignant melanoma, the deadliest skin cancer.
”UV rays damage the DNA in skin cells, so they’re more likely to mutate into cancer. You don’t even have to burn for it to happen.”
Using tanning nasal sprays
Although some nasal spray sellers insist their products are safe, the British Association of Dermatologists’ Dr Catherine Borysiewicz insisted that the only safe tan is fake tan.
She warned: ”These products have not been studied properly, you don’t know what you are using, that’s the bottom line.
“These products are very, very dangerous. They can potentially lead to cancer.
“I talk about the skin risks, but who knows what else it might be doing. It’s incredibly worrying.
“If you’re using Melanotan, stop. Don’t use it any more and really importantly make sure your skin is assessed and checked.
“Be honest with the doctors that you’re seeing so they’re aware of the potential risks you may have been exposed to so your moles can be properly checked and analysed if needed.”
