6 killed in roof collapse in Kunar and Khost provinces in Afghanistan
Local authorities have announced that six people have lost their lives due to the collapse of house roofs caused by heavy rain in Kunar and Khost Provinces.
Ehsanullah, the official of the Disaster Management and Response Department in Kunar Province, stated in a statement that the incident occurred around 6:00 PM on Saturday, March 2nd, in the “Andarser” area of Asadabad city.
According to reports, two women lost their lives and three other children were injured due to the collapse of a roof in Khost.
He said that in this incident, four members of a family lost their lives, and two others, including a child, were injured.
Earlier, as a result of the collapse of a residential house roof in the Nowzad district of Helmand Province, four people, including a woman and two children, lost their lives.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Disaster Management has reported that nine people have lost their lives due to heavy snowfall and severe cold weather in recent days.
It is worth mentioning that recently, heavy snowfall has occurred in many provinces of the country, leading to the blockage of transportation routes, loss of lives, and financial damages.
According to reports, more than two thousand livestock have also died due to snowfall in various provinces.
Afghanistan is highly susceptible to various natural disasters such as earthquakes, landslides, heavy rains, flash floods, and avalanches, making it one of the most disaster-prone countries in the region.
