Ford drivers rave over ‘hidden’ feature that makes outdoor fun a breeze – you can watch a tutorial in the cab
A FORD expert has revealed a useful feature that’s hidden in the main menu that defeats the need for an owner’s manual.
The feature will no longer require car owners to carry a 300-page manual in their glovebox – drivers can access it in a much easier way instead.
AutoMotive Inquiries, a YouTube channel (@AutoMotiveInquiries) that is dedicated to teaching viewers about the various features in their trucks, cars, boats, or RVs, has uploaded a recent video covering features in a 2023 or 2024 Ford F-150 pickup.
“The Ford trucks including the new Ford F-150 2023 and 2024, have tons of great features, but some, you have to dig to find out, not all salespeople tell you about these,” he wrote in the video’s caption.
Before digging into the features, he mentioned that owner’s manuals for vehicles, the truck he’s reviewing included, are typically hundreds of pages long.
“I used to enjoy reading them, and I still do, but Ford made it so you didn’t have to carry it in your glovebox anymore,” he said.
At the very bottom of the infotainment screen to the right is a small truck icon that says “Features.”
Once “Features” is selected, a menu pops up, and the host chooses the hidden option titled, “Owner’s Manual.”
From there, the entire manual is available to the driver, including all of the video tutorials for how to activate or operate a feature.
“You can go into the owner’s manual and basically you can look at anything you want,” he said.
“You can type up here what you’re looking for… Put in some keywords in the search bar and boom, it brings up everything that has that keyword in it.”
As an example, he typed the word “Power” into the search bar and the power outlet feature popped up, with the option to play the video tutorial.
He noted that the power outlet feature comes in handy when a driver is off the grid.
“The Power Boost itself can act as a generator, so if you’re out camping and you get a powerful enough one, instead of carrying a little suitcase generator, you can use this to power something with this,” he said.
His viewers were grateful for his breakdown of the feature, with one commenter revealing it saved them $40.
“I just bought an F-150 Lariat and picked it up yesterday,” they wrote.
“It was built in January 2023 and does not come with an owner’s manual. It will cost me $30 plus shipping, so $40 total if I want a hard copy. Thank you for the information.”
