Cadden: It Felt Good To Be Back
Chris Cadden was pleased to be back starting games for Hibernian FC in what was ultimately a disappointing Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Rangers.
That was the right-back’s first start since late May – almost 10 months ago – after picking up an Achilles injury.
Despite being back on the pitch, the Scot couldn’t stop the Gers progressing through to the next round, and he gave his assessment on the game.
“It was tough. Obviously they get the penalty in the first half but I feel like they didn’t create too much in the second, I thought we came out from the break really well.
“We were a little bit frustrated at half-time because we didn’t really show the best of ourselves; it was a bit hectic. The second half we calmed down and played more of our own game. Obviously then the two red cards happened and it’s difficult to come back from there. Even then the boys dug in and kept going right to the end. It was there for us in the second half, I thought we came out really well.”
Despite the result, Cadden is hoping to kick-on now personally and gain regular minutes under his belt.
“It felt good to be back, it’s been a long nine months. It’s been a lot of hard work and sacrifice, but I just want to thank the team here. They’ve been unbelievable, from the physio staff to the personal trainers in the gym, to the gaffer, to everyone else at the club. They’ve really been desperate to get me back. I can’t really ask much more for the attention and focus I got.
“It’s been a lot of hard work so now we can hopefully get it to pay off with a big end to the season.
“I’m hoping I can make an impact for the run in. It’s great to be back out there, it’s been a long way but happy to be back.”
