Fabrizio Romano reveals midfielder will sign pro-deal with Spurs today
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur youngster Callum Olusesi will sign his first professional deal with the club today, keeping him in North London until June 2026.
Callum Olusesi is a product of the Tottenham academy, and is regarded as one of the most highly rated young players emerging from the Lilywhites’ youth set up right now.
This season alone, Olusesi has registered eight goals and four assists across 18 appearances for the Spurs Under-18 side (Transfermarkt).
Alasdair Gold has previously earmarked Olusesi as one to watch from the Spurs academy. However, with great talent comes plenty of attention from elsewhere, too.
Football Insider have reported that Spurs fought off interest from the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle United, Leeds United and Brighton and Hove Alion to keep Olusesi at the club last summer. According to Alasdair Gold, Manchester City were also interested.
Callum Olusesi will stay at Spurs until 2026
Now, Spurs have locked Callum Olusesi in for the long term, with the 17-year-old agreeing to sign his first professional contract with the club, as per an update from Fabrizio Romano.
Romano tweeted: “Exclusive, Tottenham talent Callum Olusesi set to sign pro deal at Spurs on Monday, valid until June 2026. Five European clubs wanted him last summer, Spurs happy with the 2007 born midfielder.”
It now remains to be seen just how far Olusesi can go, and whether he will get opportunities in the first team with Ange Postecoglou in the near future.
Spurs Web Opinion
This is great news for Spurs. Callum Olusesi has been smashing it this season, and he’s clearly got a bright future, and now we get to see that unfold with Tottenham for at least the next couple of years. Hopefully, he can find his way into the senior set up in some way soon.
Tottenham’s focus on youth development has been refreshing over the past six months and it is certainly paying off when you look at the results of the academy teams this season.
