Rohit Sharma to Play IPL 2025? Ambati Rayudu Predicts Future of Mumbai Indians Star
Mumbai: Once Rohit Sharma was removed as the Mumbai Indians captain, there have been much speculation over his IPL future. Will he play the 2025 season of the cash-rich league? One has to take into account his age, he is 36, how long can he continue given that he is not the most athletic on the field? Former India and MI player Ambati Rayudu, who has shared the dressing-room many times in his career with Rohit, has predicted the former MI captain’s IPL future. As per Rayudu, Rohit could go on to play IPL for the next 5-6 years. Claiming that the whole world is open for him, Rayudu also said Rohit could go to any team as the captain.
Ambati Rayudu said on News24 Sports: “Rohit Sharma can play IPL for the next 5-6 years. if he wants to captain, the whole world is open for him. He can easily captain wherever he wants”.
IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal confirmed that there will be a mega-auction ahead of the 2025 season and that has again sparked speculations over will Rohit be retained or released.
Recently, Rohit was asked about his retirement plans. Rohit explained that the day he feels his body is not good enough to cope up with the pressure of modern-day cricket, he will step aside.
“One day, when I wake up and feel, I am not good enough then I will retire straightaway but in the last few years I am playing the best cricket of my life,” Rohit said after the dominating win over England.
Rohit credited the youngsters for putting up a brilliant show despite being short in experience.
“When you win a Test like this, everything has to fall in place. At some stage people are gonna and people are gonna come and we know that. These guys are maybe short of experience, they have played a lot of cricket and I can stand here and see that these guys responded pretty well under pressure,” Rohit hailed the youngsters during the post-match presentation in Dharamsala.
