Death in Paradise fans left ‘hyperventilating’ as major character confirms exit from show – just as beloved star returns
DEATH in Paradise fans were left ‘hyperventilating’ after a major character confirmed their exit from show – just as a beloved star returned.
The latest episode of the BBC drama saw DI Neville Parker – played by Ralf Little – realise he didn’t have any feelings for his ex-girlfriend Zoe after she arrived on the island seeking a reconciliation.
After letting her down during a walk on the beach, Neville was seen at the bar with Naomi and newly returned Dwayne Myers and his partner.
During a heart to heart, Neville told Naomi: “I finally found out what I’d like to put on the top of my bucket list – finding love again.”
The unlucky-in-love detective continued: “But if there is one thing this job teaches you it’s that life is too short.
“It’s not just the cases it’s what happened with the Commissioner a few weeks ago.
“So, I need to be more like Zoe, take a risk, and really go for it before it is too late.”
Confused, Naomi asked: “What do you mean?”
Neville replied: “This is a small island, Naomi, it is full of ghosts for me. Florence, Sophie…Rebecca. What are the chances of me finding love again here?”
“Yeah, so if I do want to find the one and I really do then I am going to have to put myself out there literally.
“So I am going travelling, I am leaving Saint Marie.”
However, Neville’s decision could change when he learns the latest about Florence, who he previously fancied.
In a preview for next week’s episode at the end of Sunday’s edition, Florence was seen talking to the Commissioner, revealing she was out of witness protection.
Hoping it means a potential return for actress Joséphine Jobert, Death in Paradise fans took to X – formerly Twitter – to discuss what it could mean for Neville.
One wrote: “I ACTUALLY FEEL LIKE IM GONNA CRY BEST ENDING EVER #DeathInParadise.”
Another added: “I’m leaving Saint Marie” Cue my sister hyperventilating #deathinparadise.”
A third tweeted: “Yes Florence is clearly back for Neville. Please let them go off travelling together.”
Meanwhile a fourth shared: “Twitter meltdown. Dwayne back, Neville leaving, Florence coming back.”
Dwayne – played by Danny John-Jules – returned after five series, having left in series seven before making a guest appearance in series 11.
Meanwhile Joséphine was part of the show from series 4 to 8 and again from 10 to 11 before her surprise reveal this week.
Death in Paradise airs Sundays at 9pm on BBC One.
