Stands For Everything Man Utd About – Former Red Devils Assistant On Star
Former Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan has insisted that Alejandro Garnacho is the kind of exciting and creative player that the club are all about.
The 19-year-old winger has emerged as one of the most important players in a difficult season for Manchester United.
He has started the last 25 games in all competitions for the Red Devils and Erik ten Hag has depended on him to provide inspiration to a misfiring forward line this season.
Garnacho joined Manchester United from the Atletico Madrid academy in 2020 and has already made 73 senior appearances for the club.
Phelan stressed that the Argentinian is the kind of explosive talent that Manchester United are as a club and he adequately represents the institution’s ethos.
He feels Garnacho’s penchant for taking risks on the ball is what endears him to the fans at Old Trafford and he is certain that with edge and experience, he is going to have a great future at Manchester United.
“He stands for everything that Manchester United is about: he’s individual, young, energetic, aggressive”, Phelan told The Athletic.
“He’s an intelligent player who understands his role in the team, takes risks and gets bums off seats.
“He’s going to make mistakes, young players do, but he’s got an edge, a skill factor.
“If he continues to learn and take on information and grow quickly as a player, he’s got a great future.”
His pace and trickery won Manchester United the two penalties they converted to beat Everton 2-0 over the weekend.
