Video: Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga scores yet another goal for Millwall
Japhet Tanganga continues to impress on loan at Millwall, as the Spurs defender bagged another big goal for his new club to secure a key win in their relegation battle this season.
Things have not been easy for Japhet Tanganga over the last couple of years. The Tottenham academy graduate struggled for minutes under Antonio Conte last season, and did not do enough to impress Ange Postecoglou last summer.
The decision was made to send Tanganga on loan to German side Augsburg this season, but after six months in the Bundesliga without playing a single minute and suffering from injury issues, the defender was recalled.
He didn’t stick around in North London for long, though, and was sent on loan to Championship side Millwall instead.
Japhet Tanganga is loving life at Millwall
Millwall are embroiled in a relegation battle right now, and lost the first four games since Tanganga joined. However, the Londoners now have ten points from their last five games, and the Spurs man has been at the heart of that turnaround.
In their latest victory, a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Birmingham, it was Tanganga who popped up with a 90th-minute winner, heading in from a corner to secure the three points and lift Millwall to 16th in the league.
Tanganga registered a match rating of 8.0 out of 10 from WhoScored, the second highest on the pitch. The 24-year-old had an 84% pass completion rate, won three aerial battles, put in two tackles, and completed one dribble to round out another top display.
Spurs Web Opinion
It’s absolutely brilliant to see Tanganga thriving out there with Millwall, and long may it continue. I have a feeling he will get a permanent move to a Championship club in the summer, but whether Millwall can afford him or not remains to be seen.
