I can’t afford Anthropologie’s $900 furniture so I just duped it – people say the details I added are an exact match
GIVING your home a high-end look doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg.
One DIY enthusiast showed her followers the tricks she used to replicate a pricey nightstand from Anthropologie.
In her video, Erika (@peonyandhoney) explained that the furniture piece was out of her price range.
“I saw this nightstand at Anthropologie and it was $900, your girl can’t afford that but what we can do is DIY it,” the TikToker said.
She began by showing her audience the $898 Fern Nightstand from Anthropologie.
Before she began her DIY project, Erika told her followers that it “minimal supplies and tools.”
First, she assembled two nightstands, which cost her $73 from Amazon.
Next, she added wood trim to the nightstands using quarter-inch by three-foot boards from Lowe’s.
“I’m just cutting it down to the width of the nightstand,” Erika explained before she secured them to the top and bottom of both drawers.
“You want to make sure that you only attach it to the drawer front so that way the drawers can still open.”
She then cut the remaining wood to fit the sides of the drawers and used them to complete the wood trim frame.
Erika then measured and cut pole wrap to fit the inside of each wooden frame.
She used wood putty and adhesive glue to fill any gaps and create a smooth finish before painting.
After sanding and adding a coat of dark gray paint, she attached table legs to each piece.
“I found almost the exact same shape legs as the ones on the Anthropologie nightstand from Etsy,” Erika explained.
She showed her viewers the set of four wooden table legs, which cost her $53.
For her final touches, she added $13 brass knobs to the drawers and marble boards on top of the stand.
“It fits the top of the nightstand perfectly, the dimensions are spot on,” she said, showing her followers the $50 marble boards.
Erika’s audience shared their thoughts on the home decor DIY, which totaled around $200.
“Looks like an exact match to me! Well done,” said one person.
“I can’t believe you found the marble pastry board that fit perfectly! Great hack,” wrote another viewer.
“I actually like your nightstands better than the Anthropologie ones, great work,” commented one follower.
“I am so impressed and thankful for this tutorial! I have had my eye on those nightstands but couldn’t afford two! Now I can make them. Appreciate you sharing this! They look gorgeous!” said a third person.
