Trump puts GOP on the 'pathway to loserdom': Morning Joe
MSNBC's Joe Scarborough warned that Donald Trump was setting Republicans on the pathway to losing another election cycle.
The former president became a punchline during the Academy Awards after posting criticism of host Jimmy Kimmel, who then mocked his legal troubles, and the "Morning Joe" host said Trump just can't stay out of his own way.
"I guess he doesn't understand," Scarborough said. "He just keeps walking into traps. He keeps -- again, it's like an old fighter that's past his prime. The things that may have worked, that may have been disruptive six, you know, 2016, everybody knows that's coming. He's the butt of the joke for millions of people last night."
Trump is remaking the Republican Party in his own image after eight years of dominance, but co-host Mika Brzezinski said those party loyalists were repellent to most voters.
"While he keeps losing and having problems along the way, especially legal problems, he's developing a whole, new bench, a new generation of young, I would say, republicans, but I think it's safer to call them Trumpers who lie like he does," Brzezinski said. "They don't care."

Voters are put off by the type of behavior that draws Trump's approval and helps to win GOP primary elections, Scarborough said.
"This is the pathway to loserdom," Scarborough said. "We've been seeing that over the weekend. You've been seeing the reaction to [president Joe] Biden's State of the Union address. You've been seeing really stupid reactions from people who said he was going to be asleep. Now, it's like, he's too jacked up. Oh, like, that's all certain networks had."
