Man arrested in connection with deadly Hartford shooting during Christmas holiday weekend in 2023
Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in Hartford two days before Christmas in 2023.
Officers responded to a report of a person shot near 115 Franklin Ave. just after 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 23, 2023, and found a man later identified as 32-year-old Christian Michael Lopez of Hartford suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Hartford Police Department.
Lopez was transported to an area hospital for treatment, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions conducted the investigation and identified 35-year-old Joshua Duprey of New Britain as a suspect in the homicide, according to police.
Major Crimes detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Duprey with one count of murder and criminal possession of a firearm, police said.
On Monday, members of the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Hartford Police Violent Crime Unit found Duprey in New Britain and took him into police custody without incident, according to police.
Duprey was currently being held on a $1 million bond, police said.
