Troy woman accused of stalking, identity theft

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Troy woman has been accused of stalking, burglary, and stealing the victim's identifying information. New York State Police said Nacirema Harris, 28, was arrested after an extensive investigation.

At the beginning of 2024, New York State Police were alerted to a possible stalking incident. Harris was allegedly stalking someone while in Troy and Albany.

On January 19, a search warrant was executed at Harris' home in Troy. Police found that Harris allegedly targeted one victim and their associates over several months. While stalking the victim, she allegedly illegally entered their apartment building multiple times, stole their identifying information, and opened credit cards in the victim’s name without authorization.

Additionally, Harris is accused of getting access to and controlling the victim's financial, personal, and government accounts without authorization, submitting unsubstantiated reports of child abuse identifying the victim as the abuser, as well as surveilling the victim’s movements.

Harris was arrested in Menands. She is facing charges in both Albany City Court and Troy City Court.

  • Third-degree computer tampering (felony)
  • Two counts of second-degree criminal impersonation (misdemeanor)

  • Fouth-degree criminal solicitation (misdemeanor)
  • Third-degree criminal trespass (misdemeanor)
  • Three counts of fourth-degree stalking (misdemeanor)

Troy City Court

  • Third-degree computer tampering (felony)
  • First-degree offering a false instrument for filing (felony)
  • Endangering the welfare of a child (misdemeanor)
  • Second-degree criminal impersonation (misdemeanor)
  • Two counts of third-degree identity theft (misdemeanor)
  • Third-degree falsely reporting an incident (misdemeanor)

Harris was arraigned at Albany City Court and released under the supervision of the Albany County Probation Department. She was issued an appearance ticket for the charges in Troy for March 15.
