Lee Mack stunned by ‘record-breaking’ question on The 1% Club – but can you solve it?
THE 1% Club presenter Lee Mack was left gobsmacked after show history was made during the latest episode.
Only four people were eliminated from the 50% question round, but a whopping 39 people used a pass in an all-time high.
The ITV gameshow sees 100 contenders whittled down to a winner after a series of questions that require reason and logic.
The final round of The 1% Club is meant to be so complex that only 1% of the population are able to answer it for a chance to walk away with £100k.
During the latest instalment, the 50% question broke a new record after so many failed to answer it.
Do you think you have what it takes to answer the question which read: “Which of these is the odd one out in this CONUNDRUM?”
The options given on the show are: “A. cord, B. norm, C. noun, and D. moon.”
Even though they were only halfway through the game, only four people answered incorrectly.
However, 39 contestants found the question so complicated that they chose to pass, which can only be used once in the game.
Lee said: “Now here’s the interesting thing, you lot have just broken a record on The 1% Club because four people went out, but it’s not four people who didn’t know it.”
He added, “39 people used a pass,” as groans from the players in the audience could be heard.
“I think that’s the only time ever in the history of this show more people used a pass than actually knew the answer.
“I’m genuinely in shock.”
The results also floored viewers at home, as one took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote: “39 used their pass on this one???? #The1PercentClub Christ!! #moon.”
Others were convinced that the question was more straightforward than those playing in the room, as another penned, “50% is easy peasy,” while a third echoed, “Too easy so far. Still in.”
Have you figured out the answer yet? If not, do not read on.
The answer to the question was “D. moon”, as it was the only word that couldn’t be formed from the letters in ‘conundrum’.
