NBA fans could not believe that a Rockets staffer threw a towel at a devastatingly injured Alperen Sengun
Though the Houston Rockets are likely to miss the play-in tournament this year, they’ve spent the past few seasons building a talented young core. And no Rockets player has been more impactful than Alperen Sengun.
That’s what made the scene Sunday in Sacramento so tough to watch.
Sengun — who is enjoying a breakout season — was injured on a nasty fall while contesting Domantas Sabonis’ shot in the Rockets’ win. Sengun appeared to hurt both his knee and ankle, and he had to leave the court on a wheelchair. He’s due for an MRI on Monday to assess the severity of the injury.
But one Rockets staffer severely misread the entire situation as Sengun was wheeled off the court. I mean, look at this:
He saw a devastated Sengun in excruciating pain, and his thought was to throw a towel at him. Sengun, who wasn’t even looking, let the towel fall to the floor. And you could see the actual regret from this Rockets staffer almost immediately.
NBA fans thought that the towel guy really should have thought that one through a bit better.
