Police seize weapons, drugs after CT man allegedly waves gun at woman during neighborhood dispute
Police seized multiple weapons and drugs from a Bristol home after a man allegedly waved a gun at a woman during a neighborhood dispute.
Officers were dispatched to a home on Woodland Street in Bristol at 9 a.m. Sunday for a reported disturbance involving a man waving a gun out of a window of his home, according to the Bristol Police Department.
Officers interviewed the woman complainant, who said she owns a nearby multi-family home. She told officers that her tenants claimed that they were being harassed by the man, identified as 61-year-old James Ferro Jr., any time they walked by his home, police said.
The woman told police she was filming Ferro’s home from a public sidewalk, attempting to record the number of surveillance cameras on the home. As she was doing this, she alleged that Ferro began to yell at her, displayed a firearm and caused her to fear for her safety, according to police.
Officers surrounded the home and made contact with Ferro, police said.
According to police, a search warrant was executed at the home, where officers seized multiple firearms, Ferro’s pistol permit and ammunition. Officers also reportedly found crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, police said.
As a result of the incident, Ferro was arrested and charged with first-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Ferro is free on a $100,000 surety bond, police said.
“The Bristol Police Department understands the fear incidences such as this cause for our community,” police said in a statement Monday. “Our officers quickly responded to this complaint and made sure that the suspect was not only held accountable but that we removed his firearms, ammunition and permit from his home to prevent him from these acts in the future. We ask that citizens alert us when incidents such as this occur so we can continually ensure everyone’s safety.”
