FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Good Wednesday Evening,
It was another very warm day with highs in the lower 70s, more than 20 degrees above our normal high, which as of today sits at 50°. Tonight, expect mostly clear skies early, with clouds returning late in the evening, and an isolated shower possible toward daybreak, lows in the upper 40s. Thursday will be another very warm day with highs returning to the lower 70s.
It appears we will have that chance of showers in the morning, but it will be lifting to the north to northeast, and should be brief, before returning to a warm pattern with a lull in precipitation until about mid to late afternoon. At that time we will have to watch for approaching showers and possible thunderstorms by late afternoon into the early evening.
Some of these storms could be strong late in the day on Thursday. Thursday night, a secondary line of showers and storms will form as the cold front will start to put pressure on our area into early morning on Friday. Expect lows to remain quite warm in the middle 50s.
For Friday, our best chance of rain & storms will be early, with the front moving along a bit quicker. Our actual high temp for Friday will occur at midnight in the lower 60s, but for the daytime temps, we will peak in the upper 50s to near 60, and then fall later in the day.
Saturday expect a good deal of clearing, and a start in the mid to upper 30s, and a pretty nice mid-March afternoon with highs in the upper 50s under mainly sunny skies. Temps will be a bit cooler on Sunday, as a weak front will drop through early in the morning. This will keep temps in the lower 50s with clouds increasing late on Sunday. Sunday night into Monday another push of colder air will drop south, this time with some light precip. associated with it.
This will give us a chance of snow showers to start next work week, with temps near freezing in the morning. As temps warm up through the day into the lower 40s, we could see the snow changing to a wet snow showers/rain shower mix.
Behind this system we will start to see moderating weather with more sunshine returning for the final day of winter on Tuesday, but highs only in the middle 40s. Wednesday for the first full day of spring, temps will climb back slightly above normal under mostly sunny skies, with highs in the middle 50s.
