Mum, 33, dies after choking on food while cooking dinner for her family
A ‘tender and loving’ mum died after choking on food while cooking her family dinner in Dover last month.
Siobhan Rose Simmonds, 33, was found on the kitchen floor by her two-year-old daughter, her partner and his son on February 24.
She was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford but died at around 2.50pm in intensive care a week later.
Doctors told Siobhan’s loved ones she would likely not recover, but her decision to donate her organs left the family with some ‘solace’.
Siobhan, who also had a 14-year-old son, had told hospital staff she wanted to give her pancreas, liver, both kidneys and her heart four times.
Her sister Susan Ababte said Siobhan’s death has left the family ‘devastated’.
‘Siobhan was a very funny child and grew up to be such a funny adult. She always wanted to make people laugh,’ she told KentOnline.
Susan, 46, added: ‘Siobhan was such a tender mum. She was always dancing, playing and teaching her children. She was a natural. We are all completely devastated.’
The family are now raising money on JustGiving to cover the mum’s funeral.
‘Those of you lucky enough to have met Siobhan will remember the loving nature she inherited from her parents, Bernadette and John,’ the fundraiser said.
‘Siobhan was a naturally caring and special person who with her quirky sense of style loved life and life loved her.
‘Siobhan would probably hate this post asking for any help with funeral costs but we could really do with anything to help give our Bon the send-off she deserves.’
