Women ask how I got my hair so thick and long – try my secret homemade mask recipe, you’ll thank me later
A HOMEMADE overnight treatment made one woman’s hair grow enviably long and thick.
She shared the secret to her lengthy locks after being bombarded with questions from other women.
The mom, who posts under the handle @thickness___, has over 7,800 followers on TikTok.
“Since so many females asking me how my hair is so healthy thick and long… I thought I’d just share my secret with y’all,” she said.
She showed that her voluminous tresses were almost waist-length despite having dyed them bright red.
She began to list each ingredient used for her homemade hair mask, starting with those found at a local grocery store.
“Please ignore my hair, it’s a mess because I just woke up but let’s get it started,” she said.
“You’ll need one avocado, two teaspoons of honey, raw shea butter, mayonnaise, a ripe banana.
“I use a whole banana, two eggs, a little bit of castor oil, of course, coconut oil.
“And then your favorite conditioner. You can use whatever conditioner you want, I use my favorite one.”
Amazon’s Alteya Organics store sells organic shea butter for $16.
Walmart sells Naissance cold pressed castor oil and coconut oil each for $20.
She used Dove Intensive Repair Treatment Mask as a conditioner, which costs $18 on Amazon.
The ingredients became a beige color as she mixed them in a blender.
“Make sure it’s a creamy and thick consistency,” she said.
“Then we gonna go ahead and put on our hair. I part my hair in four parts, I apply the mask and leave it on as long as I can.
“Try it out and thank me later, y’all gonna love it.”

Ingredients:
- One avocado
- Two teaspoons of honey
- Raw shea butter
- Mayonnaise
- One ripe banana
- Two eggs
- Castor oil
- Coconut oil
- Conditioner
Step one: Mix all the ingredients in a blender

Step three: Leave the mask to sit for at least two hours
The beauty guru used her hands to apply the mask from the roots of her hair to her tips.
“Leave the mask on for at least two hours, if possible even overnight,” she said.
“The longer the better.
“Side note: I use a lot each because I have hair for three so you can use less of everything if your hair is shorter or less.”
Hundreds of people like the DIY haircare treatment and many said in the comment section that they would try it.
According to Healthline, there haven’t been many clinical studies on the effects of avocado on the hair but it is a great source of biotin when eaten.
A 2015 study, suggested the minerals in avocado oil may help to prevent hair from breaking and add shine.
Research has also shown that coconut oil can improve hair health and moisturize.
