Curious adoptable dog wants friend to explore Ohio with
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Iris, a dog looking for a home at the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center, really came out of her shell with staff and is now an explorer after sights and smells.
Behavior Coordinator Becca Moser said the young shepherd mix could be the perfect dog for children to grow up alongside.
"She's still got some puppy energy in her," Moser said. "Still working on learning some tricks, but she's pretty food-motivated, so I think training will be easy with her."
While Iris doesn't know tricks yet, Moser noted she walks remarkably well on a leash, and also loves to explore and sniff around with her nose. She also enjoys digging, and could benefit from playing in a sandbox with buried treasure.
"She has that playful, curious, adventurous side to her, and so I think she would love to go on hikes, but she also is very snuggly and content to just hang out with you, so I think could do well in a more quiet home as well," Moser said.
Iris is available for meet-and-greets at the Franklin County Dog Shelter, located at 4340 Tamarack Blvd. in Columbus. Below are some additional dogs up for adoption as well:
