Star Wars fans are furious as disastrous game launch leaves players out of pocket
ONE of the biggest announcements of the recent Nintendo Direct was that a new Star Wars games collection was on the way.
While announced by Nintendo, it launched on multiple platforms today (Thursday, March 14, 2024).
Thousands of Star Wars fans wanted to play the collection of games as soon as possible and purchased it as soon as it was released.
Costing £30 / $35 for the gaming double pack named Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, people were excited to get into the game straight away.
The Battlefront games are online multiplayer games that require access to other users in order to play.
A total of 10,000 players tried to gain access to the game at launch, but the vast majority were failing to get into a game.
There are rumours that the servers for the game were only built to support around 200 gamers at a time, meaning that many users could not play.
Users have reported that the game is 63GB which is multitudes larger than other games of the time.
It is theorised that this is because the company rushed the project and failed to compress the data.
Quick matches are reportedly only 2 minutes long due to the game not being able to manage the larger number of players allowed.
Players have also complained about the game crashing, leading to overall disappointment.
Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection has a 21 rating on Steam, meaning that only 21% of users are pleased with their purchase.
Those who have played less than 2 hours can automatically get a refund through Steam, though the process is a little bit more difficult on other platforms.
