Love is Blind Reunion: Sarah Ann Was Wrong, But Jimmy and Laura Are Problematic Too
The Love is Blind Season 6 reunion premiered yesterday night and it was possibly one of the most emotionally intense reunions. The reunion was also joined by a “panel” of former Love is Blind contestants from previous seasons asking questions which added some much-needed light-heartedness. This included the newly pregnant and glowing Giannina from Season 1, with her handsome and kind husband, whose behavior seems to be a pleasant departure from the crazymaking tactics she received from her own Love is Blind match Damien. Here were some of the most shocking moments and revelations of the reunion – and what we still need answers for. Spoilers ahead.
Sarah Ann and Jeramey are now living together and have been dating for a year. Yet while they certainly deserve to be held accountable, the scolding they received seemed to be far worse than anyone else, leaving less room for holding other contestants accountable for their behavior.
The story of Sarah Ann and Jeramey brought a great deal of drama to the show because Jeramey was caught red-handed sharing his location while “staying up” with Sarah Ann at 5 a.m. and presumably cheating on his fiancé Laura. Laura was praised for calling out his lies strategically, and Sarah Ann caught heat (rightfully so) for reaching out to and pursuing Jeramey while he was engaged. Jeramey denied that anything physical happened between them, but he and Sarah Ann did share that they are now living together and have been dating for around a year, indicating that their relationship did seem to have substance, although they way they went about reuniting was definitely problematic. Jeramey also claimed that while he was previously engaged, he was not engaged immediately before or while he was on the show – another scandalous rumor that was going around when pictures of him and his previous fiancé had surfaced on social media.
Clearly, both Sarah Ann and Jeramey deserve to be held accountable for the shady behavior they partook in during the show, but it’s not clear if people like Jessica or Laura are the right people to be calling them out as a “pick-me girl” or “not a girl’s girl,” considering Jessica herself was elated when Jimmy followed her on social media and disclosed to Laura smugly that she believed he was still interested after he was engaged. Nor is Laura the poster child for morality given she encouraged Jeramy to engage in the aggressive sexualization of AD through her gross, immature “bean dip” comment. Seeing Jessica and Laura reprimand Sarah Ann while knowing their own actions seems a bit disingenuous. Granted, Jessica owned up to this and said this was not one of her best moments, and Laura did claim she apologized to AD, but still doesn’t seem aware of why that comment is so disrespectful. During the reunion, we also found out that Jessica is also now besties with former Love is Blind Season 4 contestant Micah who was also present at the reunion – the woman who was the “mean girl” of all mean girls of Love is Blind history, sadistically showing pleasure at the pain of other women. This is suspicious on its own for her to be associated with someone like this, while ironically calling other women out on pick-me tendencies. It also felt quite catty for Jessica to bring up the fact that she took Sarah Ann out of the group chat. Across social media, women are criticizing Sarah Ann for her body glitter and prom-like dress, but Sarah Ann, regardless of her terrible actions on the show, actually looked phenomenal. It’s not her looks or fashion sense that should be under scrutiny here: as a reminder, hyperfocusing on how a woman looks rather than her decision to pursue an engaged man is ironically misogynistic and “pick-me” on its own and is not necessary in order to critique her actions.
What Wasn’t Brought Up
It felt like half the reunion was dedicated to scolding Sarah Ann and Jeramey, when there were other issues that still needed to be addressed. Laura’s bizarre “bean dip” comment encouraging her fiancé to hit AD’s breast was barely mentioned except for her half-hearted apology which she brought up briefly herself simply saying she meant no disrespect, and understanding that comment within the objectification of women of color on the show was not addressed either. Why did no one bring up Jimmy’s rude and lewd “stacked” comment toward AD, for example, but proceed to grill Chelsea and blame her for Jimmy choosing to bring a female best friend he slept with on the show? Jimmy got plenty of space to pretend that it was all Chelsea’s fault that he voluntarily brought someone he slept with on the show, putting her at risk. All of it reeks of double standards, people not being held accountable, and unanswered questions. We also didn’t get an answer to whether or not Chelsea and Jimmy are still together as they were seen having dinner together and clubbing together, showing lots of PDA shortly before the reunion aired, or whether AD and Clay were still seeing each other (although we did get the shocking revelation that AD met up with contestant Matthew, who had fed two different women the same lines, for a couple of dates).
Trevor was called out, big time, for having a girlfriend behind the scenes.
Trevor was called out, rightfully so, for having a girlfriend he was texting right before he entered the Love is Blind pods. He had told her everything he would be doing in the pods would be “pretend,” and both seemed to express a desire to marry each other. When confronted, however, Trevor was uncomfortably silent, rationalizing that he did approach the experiment with an authentic desire to find someone he wouldn’t regularly pursue in real life and even dared to say he was not “really dating” his girlfriend. He admitted he was “toxic” and needed therapy, but it’s clear that some of what he expressed may have been a lie since the texts between him and his then-girlfriend indicated that both of them were treating the show like a game and he expressed he loved her.

In this matter, Jessica was in the right – Jimmy was not being truthful about his behavior in the pods in interviews in which he labeled Jessica a “mean girl,” and the production team backed her statements up regarding how long their final date lasted with actual video footage. Although Jessica should re-evaluate how harshly she judges some women while becoming besties with others (i.e. Micah) who have similar problematic behaviors, at the very least Jessica was one of the few on the reunion to hold Jimmy accountable in this case.
