I’ve lived in an RV for 9 years – my 6 design must-haves, I got side-eye for an unusual bathroom feature but love it
A TRAVEL lover has shared her top must-haves that she needs for a comfortable life on the road in her RV.
She revealed her favorite six interior design additions in her mobile home, including an unusual bathroom feature that she loves but others are confused by.
Cortni (@theflippingnomad) is no stranger to a life on wheels as she has been living in an RV for almost ten years.
She also decorates RVs professionally and coaches others on DIY methods to enhance their small spaces.
She’s gone through tons of trial and error, so she has learned what are the best decor assets to bring into your space.
She revealed in a TikTok video her top six “floorplan must-haves” that she is building into her dream RV, the Ultimate Fuzion. T
“They’re things you might want to consider if you’re shopping for an RV or renovating one for yourself,” she added in the video caption.
Cortni first talked about the benefits of a residential mini-split air conditioner, instead of the “inefficient and loud” current roof-mounted ones.
“Mini-splits can be retrofitted as long as you have somewhere for the exterior compressor and the interior head unit,” she explained.
Next, the expert included a staple from her last RV from the last three and a half years, a bathtub.
“They can be retrofitted as long as you have room for one and you don’t have too many tricky corners to get it in the front door and then into the bathroom,” she added.
She wrote in the caption that when she first outfitted her last RV with one, she “got a lot of side-eye from people,” but now can’t live without it.
The third on the list was a dedicated workspace that was separate from the rest of the home.
“I’m going to put my desk in the garage that way I can close it off at night,” she added.
Cortini then moved on to a dishwasher, which many RVs don’t have but should.
She said that they can be retrofitted as long as you have a cabinet that’s big enough and decent plumping nearby.
The second to last on the list was a dedicated space for storage items like dog beds and laundry hampers because they can unnecessarily take up a lot of floor space.
Cortni also explained in the caption that the number one item on the list is something you should include in your RV even if you only camp occasionally.
“My number one absolute must-have is that the rig is fully accessible with slides in,” she said.
“I zip around the country so much that I have to be able to use my rig with its slides in.”
That includes a fully functioning kitchen, and full access to the fridge, bedroom, and bathroom.
“You see this is what RV companies need to start doing!!!! No more swirls and grays and browns,” a viewer commented.
“Yesssss to the mini-splits. We put them in about six months ago and the South Florida heat hasn’t been killing us!” another wrote.
“Agree on the last part about accessibility without the slides out!” a TikTok user added.
