DePaul is closing in on hiring former Ohio State and Butler head coach Chris Holtmann, with one source telling ZAGSBLOG it’s “close to done.”
A second source said Holtmann believes the job has “real potential.”
Holtmann, 52, was fired by Ohio State last month after starting the season 14-11.
He is 251-171 for his career at Gardner-Webb, Butler and Ohio State, with seven NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 with Butler in 2017.
At DePaul, he would be re-joining the Big East, where he went 70-31 from 2014-17.
DePaul finished this season 3-29 and 0-20 in the Big East. They nearly knocked off Villanova in the first round of the Big East Tournament Wednesday night before Justin Moore hit a game-winning 3-pointer to win it 58-57.
