ACSO impounds 17 'ghost cars' in Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic-safety initiative on March 14 aimed at removing unregistered and uninsured vehicles from the streets of Albany. As a result of the enforcement detail, the sheriff's office impounded 17 unregistered "ghost cars."
ACSO says that many of the cars had license plates that were stolen, fraudulent, switched or without plates at all. The enforcement detail was conducted with assistance from investigators with the state Department of Motor Vehicles.
