8:00 p.m. – “Previously on ‘Survivor’!” In the third episode, Nami and Siga won the combined reward/immunity challenge, which meant Yanu would return to tribal council for the third consecutive time. However, after Randen of the Nami tribe lost movement in his hand because of a pinched nerve, he was medically evacuated so that he could get an MRI. That gave Yanu a much-needed reprieve from having to visit tribal council yet again. Fifteen people remain on the island. Who will be eliminated tonight?
8:02 p.m. – The morning after being saved from going to another TC, the Yanu tribe was feeling “lucky” for the first time in the game and Kenzie was hoping it would be a “turning point” for them as a group. Feeling guilty about what he said while on the journey, Bhanu opened up and admitted to Tiffany and Q that he told them that “Kenzie is the mastermind.” Tiffany was upset that he also said how close her and Q are, thinking that eventually the other tribes will want to break them up. After wanting to save Bhanu last time, Q was finally on board with seeing Bhanu as a huge liability for their tribe and needing to get rid of him sooner rather than later. Still, he went back to Bhanu to tell him that Tiffany is upset. When Kenzie found out (from Tiffany) she screamed and her jaw was on the floor in shock that he threw them all under the bus in that way.
8:09 p.m. – At Siga, we learned that Jem, who had found the Beware Advantage last episode, was waiting for someone to find the Beware Advantage that she hid in a new spot in order to send someone on a “wild goose chase.” On a walk with the tribe, Maria found it and so they all participated in reading the note and watching as she dug under the tree like it told her to. Because it was the wrong area, all the dug up was ants. At one point, Charlie suggested that someone might have found it already and planted it in a new spot.
8:16 p.m. – For the next challenge, Siga learned for the first time that Randen was pulled from the game and that’s why all four members of Yanu showed up to compete. In the reward challenge, the tribes paddled a boat and then each of the four players had to get a ring off of one pole and then race to get them all around another pole. As the prize, the winners would get “10 decent-sized fish and a bamboo cooker” while the second tribe to finish would get five fish. Nami had Venus sit out this challenge, while Siga chose Moriah and Ben to watch from the sidelines.
8:19 p.m. – In the water, Tim had a difficult time getting on the buoy to retrieve their key, giving the other tribes space to take a comfortable lead on their way back to the shore. In the segment to toss the rings off of a tall beam, Yanu finished first and advanced and then Siga was able to catch up when Liz struggled on her ring for Nami, but then Maria had her own struggle which kept Siga in last place again. Meanwhile, Q scored all four rings over the final pole for Yanu and they won their first challenge to take the first place reward. By the time Maria got her ring off the pole, Hunter was already landing ring after ring on the final pole of Nami to take second place. As the winners, Yanu earned the fish, but had the option to swap to an earlier reward if they wanted and so they decided to choose the large tarp and toolkit instead.
8:30 p.m. – Arriving at camp to their five fish, Nami allowed Tevin to cut and clean the fish because it was an important gesture for him since it’s something he used to do with his father. Meanwhile at Yanu, they were just excited to use their new tools and improve their camp life with newfound confidence in their ability to win a challenge. Once again, Q wanted to coach Bhanu through how to fix his “social and strategic game” in the event that they decide to keep him around. The focus of their lessons was for Bhanu to “play conversations in [his] head” so that he isn’t caught off guard and giving away information every time he’s asked something. While Kenzie was appreciative of the coaching Q was doing, she was personally annoyed by it having to be done.
8:38 p.m. – At Siga, Maria was feeling down in her responsibility over them losing out on the reward, but her tribe picked her up with kind words and listening to her story about her upbringing as an immigrant family. To turn the day around, the group resumed their search for the Beware Advantage, but when they came up short again they all figured that someone must have found it privately and planted it as a decoy. Moriah and Jem told Maria and Charlie that they think Tim is the one that planted it to “overcompensate” as a way of getting suspicions off of him.
8:45 p.m. – Following Kenzie snapping at Bhanu, he was feeling at the bottom once again and as though the other three are puppeteering him through the game. He was not happy that it felt like he was losing himself in the game. Kenzie knew that Bhanu would react negatively to her annoyance and so she approached him to offer an apology which helped Bhanu feel better.
8:49 p.m. – There were other annoyances coming to the surface at Nami as well. Soda was seeing herself, Tevin and Hunter as a “solid three,” but in all the down time that they were experiencing as a tribe, she was having conversations with everyone in the tribe and it was starting to get noticed by her peers. Tevin recognized Soda as an “emotional butterfly” that was “having little whisper moments” with other people. To counter his growing insecurities with Soda, Tevin went to Hunter and offered that they work together against Soda in order to protect their interests. Tevin didn’t realize that Soda was already on Hunter’s radar because he wants to be the closest to Tevin and needs Soda gone in order for that to happen. When they approached Liz, she agreed that Soda is “the one to beat” and at the merge would be the biggest threat.
8:56 p.m. – When Tree Mail arrived for the immunity challenge, Liz had to disclose to the Siga tribe that she “cannot jump,” a fear she has had in the game since learning she was cast. But as a supportive tribe, they all worked on her jumping skills in advance, but no one quite expected her to be so poor at jumping. Sure enough, at the Immunity Challenge, they learned that it was the water course that would require each of them to leap from a high platform, but not to retrieve a key in the air like they thought. Instead they’d have to dive to unhook balls from a buoy and then land them in three baskets. The first two tribes to finish would earn safety from the next vote. For this challenge, Siga chose Jem and Maria to sit out while Nami kept Tevin on the bench.
9:00 p.m. – Hunter got Nami off to a lead followed by Tim in second for Siga and trailed by Q for Yanu. Ben passed Soda in the second heat, which gave Siga the lead. Bhanu was second to go for Yanu and he skipped a crates section of the course so he had to backtrack as the other tribes had their third players out on the course. With Siga finishing first, Tim started shooting balls into the baskets and scored one before Venus and Kenzie even started as the last to finish the course for their tribes. Hunter took the shots for Nami and Q for Yanu, both landing their first balls before Tim could land a second. Hunter landed his next two and earned safety for Nami once again. With Bhanu slowly retrieving lost balls for Yanu, Tim had the gate open to land a second ball for Siga. Q made a second ball for Yanu, but missed his next attempt which Tim capitalized on to secure safety for Siga. For the fourth straight time, Yanu lost the IC.
9:11 p.m. – Back at the Yanu camp, Kenzie called it “an easy vote” to Tiffany and Q and suggested that they have an “easy day.” As the three of them spoke, Bhanu listened in on Tiffany ranting about him and so he knew that his only chance of staying was to “look for the idol.” Not knowing that Tiffany already found the Beware Advantage and idol, Bhanu’s search came up short. Over the course of the day he asked for Kenzie to help him look for an idol and then fell to his knees in front of Tiffany and begged for her to keep him. Tiffany gave it to him straight that she can’t trust him and hugged him after telling him that for that reason she has to vote him out.
9:22 p.m. – At Tribal Council, Jeff wanted to rewind back to Bhanu’s journey. Bhanu admitted to losing his vote and then told Jeff what he said about his tribe mates to the other tribes. Tiffany said that Bhanu didn’t understand he was “getting played” and put a target on all of their backs by sharing that information. Bhanu said that for the first six days “it was not clicking how to play the game” and then said he “dug [his] grave so deep” when he told them what he said on the journey. At that point, all three of the others said that they were honest about voting Bhanu out tonight and because he lost his vote, he also couldn’t play his Shot in the Dark. Jeff was interested in the concept that they were all being honest and there was no movement to blindside anyone. Bhanu took that opportunity to “share [his] story” about being born into poverty in India and becoming the first member of his entire family to make it out. He came to the show to share that story with the world to inspire other people growing up like he did. Q told him that he’s proud of him and he should be proud of who he was to their tribe and that they taught him, too.
9:27 p.m. – Not needing to go through with a vote, Jeff had Bhanu step up willingly to have his torch snuffed.
NEXT TIME: At Siga, Tim wants to get to the bottom of who isn’t telling the truth about their Beware Advantage while the Nami tribe is out looking for their own.
