UK weather: Exact time and location snow expected to fall today – with Brits set to freeze through chilly weekend
SNOW is expected to fall today as Brits are being warned to brace for a chilly weekend.
The country is set to freeze in just hours with rain, sleet, hail and snow predicted to batter parts.
Despite Wednesday being the official first day of spring, temperatures are plummeting to 4C in the north.
Before the white stuff falls, much of the UK can expect to have a wet and windy start to their Thursday morning.
The Environment Agency has issued four flood warnings and 71 alerts in the last 24 hours following concerns over showers.
Strong gusts and heavy downpours will drench southern England and Wales.
Conditions are then forecast to move upwards to the north and Scotland.
As we look towards Thursday night, snow fall is predicted.
Parts of Scotland will be blanketed around 9.30pm today, say the weather service.
A spokesperson for the Met Office told The Sun: “Over the weekend we are likely to see a mix of sunshine and blustery showers, with some of these showers a wintry mix of rain, sleet, hail and snow.
“Any snowfall is generally going to be confined to higher ground in the north, with lower levels seeing a mix of rain, sleet and hail.
“Any lying snow will most likely be restricted to high ground in Scotland and possibly high ground in the far north of England.
“The main impacts for most people will be that it will be feeling much colder than it currently is feeling with a return of some overnight frosts.”
Local flooding is “probable” for the next five days in parts of the south of England.
Travel disruption is likely while roads and properties could flood.
