My garden was a hot mess – the first change was free & our fence makeover cost a quid, it’s already so much better
A DIY fanatic has shared how she gave her garden a major glow-up on the cheap – and one change cost her absolutely nothing.
As the weather is finally warming up, many homeowners will be wanting to spend more time outdoors – but if your garden is looking like a hot mess, there are a few things you can do to immediately zhuzh it up.
One person who recently proved there’s no need to fork out a fortune to transform the yard is TikTok user Olivia – and whilst the changes have been ”small”, they’ve already made the garden look ”so much better”.
The first thing, Olivia shared in the video, was moving the bins away from the front door – not only do they now look more neat tucked away, but there’s more space for flowers and plants, as we enter Spring and Summer.
Olivia, who’d also bought a storage bin ”to keep everything much neater”, then began working on the ”patchy grass”, which was in a dire need of some TLC.
After plenty of watering to hydrate the soil, the grass seeds ”came through” and the brown patches had been replaced with lush greenery.
Another inexpensive thing Olivia did was adding garden trellis panelling for climbing plants by the fence – this easy change cost her ”only £1 or so”, she revealed.
”My Clematis was very happy. Hoping for some flowers this year,” the gardening enthusiast said.
To make the outdoor space look even more Spring-ready, the DIY fanatic also planted some bulbs, such as Daffodils – however, Olivia revealed she’s still planning on adding more.
”Lots more to plant for a colourful border this Summer!”
Amazed by the stunning makeover, people flocked to comments, where they shared their thoughts and praised Olivia.
One couldn’t get over the glow-up, writing: ”Looks so much better!”
Another chimed in: ”Some videos show transformations so out of normal reach. I love this.
”I love this very much Made me smile.”
”I’d recommend planting loads of bulbs too. They may take a year but they just pop up unexpectedly,” a third chimed in.
Better known to her 4.6k fans as @livloves, Olivia regularly shares ”wholesome” gardening content on her platform.
Last year, the DIY fanatic revealed how she gave her dull shed the ultimate transformation, whilst on a budget.
To achieve this, Olivia used a paint sample to give the door a freshen-up, which only cost 99p, as well as a hanging basket.
“This shed was looking very sad and neglected, so we gave it an upgrade.
“We started by painting it using this Masonry paint from B&Q and this just made it look 1,000 times better.
“Then I did all of the brick work at the bottom in black, using this Rust-oleum paint.
“I love this. I’ve used it inside the house as well and you can use it on so many different surfaces.
“Then we upgraded the door just by giving it another lick of paint.
“Again, we used Rust-oleum paint, Literally these little samples.
“And then we added a hanging basket just for a bit of colour.”
If you fancy giving your shed a paint this weekend, you can pick up the Rust-oleum garden paint sample that Olivia used on the door of her shed for just 99p.
