‘It’s too sheer for a wedding’ people slate sister of the groom’s dress with corset top & ‘completely see through skirt’
A WEDDING guest has been brutally slated for the ”completely see-through” frock she wants to wear for the brother’s big day.
Attending a wedding is no joke, especially when it comes to finding the perfect outfit and there are many questions to consider, such as the colour of the gown and the cut of it.
This is why one woman, the sister of the groom, took to Reddit to seek advice, as she wasn’t too sure if her frock would fit the black/white tie dress code.
According to the brunette, who was also due to give a speech at the reception, there would be a whopping 400 people – which then comes as no surprise that she wanted to nail the outfit.
The woman explained: ”It is a South Asian wedding and the bride will be wearing a super huge sparkly silver Indian lehenga.
”Guests were asked to wear non-Indian black tie.”
Her hubby, she said in the post, would be sporting a smart tux, and she wasn’t entirely bothered about the gown choice.
”All of the religious activities will be done in the morning so not concerned with it being inappropriate during the ceremony.”
The wedding guest also uploaded two snaps of the black maxi dress, including one where she was rocking the gorgeous strappy number with mesh detailing.
The stunning dress in question was a black gown with mesh panelling throughout, as well as see-through corset-style waist and two thin spaghetti straps.
The bottom of the frock, meanwhile, had a ruffled tulle skirt effect, and against light, others could see her body peeking through.
But whilst the woman was considering rocking the £500 tulle dress for the nuptials next month, people on social media advised her to find another option.
In their eyes, although the dress, by Revolve, was indeed ”gorgeous” and ”perfect”, it was far from ”appropriate”.
One reckoned: ”It being so sheer doesn’t say wedding guest to me.
”Since this is your future SIL, if you think she will be honest and not just tell you what you want to hear, you should ask her.”
Someone else agreed, adding: ”Very cool dress but I’m not sure it’s suited for black tie the see through makes it more casual including the corseted top.”
A third chimed in: ”The bodice is quite sheer as well as the skirt.
”I would not be comfortable wearing this dress if I was going to give a speech at my brother’s wedding.”
Another advised: ”The skirt looks see through, maybe with something underneath it could work.”
After being brutally slammed by fellow Redditors, the wedding guest revealed that even her mother had urged her to make the outfit less see-through.
”Similarly, my mum said if I was concerned that I should consider wearing black leggings under the dress so you wouldn’t see any leg.
”Overall I love the dress! A tweak or two might be in order, but if you’re lucky, just a hem may be perfect.”
