Some ‘lost fingers’ while others were ‘whacked round the head’ – shoppers reveal their Yellow Sticker horror stories
WE all love a Yellow Sticker bargain.
But some people go to the extreme to get their hands on one of the reduced items – so much so that they’ve even injured other shoppers in the process.
The horror stories were revealed by people on the Yellow Sticker shopping tips, tricks and hauls group on Facebook, after one woman wrote: “Just tried to do my first yellow sticker shop due to money issues.
“Been pushed out of the way for this man to get 2 full baskets full of stuff… so ignorant.
“Normal??”
But she quickly found out that her situation was 100 per cent normal – and in fact on the tamer section of the lengths people will go to for a bargain.
“Yes very normal,” one wrote.
“I used to be the person doing the stickers about 8 years ago and I used to get shouted at, kicked, shoved etc.
“Had to stop it on Christmas eve one year because of a punch up and the store manager told us to just throw it all away because of how people were acting.”
“It’s like a rugby scrum in our local big Tesco,” another wrote.
“Just pure madness. Many just fill a bag for life and then take it away to sort thru what they actually want, and put what they don’t want back.
“Seriously though they wait for the staff to bring the trolleys out and nearly knock them over getting to the stuff.
“I wouldn’t want to work there!”
“It’s ruthless in the yellow sticker world,” a third sighed.
“I’ve lost a couple of fingers in the past.
“General rule is every man/ woman for themselves with no remorse for others.
“May the odds forever be in your favour!”
“One of our local stores has to put a cordon round them to fill it onto the shelves because people literally hurt the staff with the aggressiveness of grabbing stuff,” someone else shockingly revealed.
“People just generally seem to be completely self-centered and rude,” another wrote.
“Years ago people would have been ashamed to act like that!”
As someone else wrote: “Someone accidentally hit me on the head when I was bending down looking because he was so eager.
“I caught another person rummaging through my basket, he saw a bunch of taste the difference stuff in my basket probs assuming they were reduced (which they weren’t).
“I told him it’s mine and put it back.
“I was so overwhelmed by it all I headed to the checkout – when I got there I had realised some of the stuff I put in my basket had gone!”
“I’ve witnessed it quite a few times especially in M&S,” another said.
“Some people follow the assistant around the store while they are putting the yellow stickers on!”
