High Park Residence
High Park Residence is a minimalist home located in Toronto, Canada, designed by Vives St-Laurent. The renovation endeavors to reimagine the entire residence to accommodate modern living requirements. The ground floor’s layout has been revamped, relocating the kitchen to connect seamlessly with the outdoor terrace, amplifying the influx of natural light. Attention has been devoted to enhancing the bedroom quarters, with a focal point on revamping the shared bathroom on the second floor, blending contemporary features with the home’s original charm. Furthermore, the attic has been transformed into a versatile family space, complete with an adjoining bathroom, offering additional relaxation and leisure areas.
Upon entering, brown ceramic tiles arranged in a chevron pattern introduce an organic texture to the space. The original staircase has been revitalized to complement the contemporary touches introduced by the design team. A powder room beneath the stairs exudes a boudoir ambiance, adorned with stained white oak walls. The house flows in an enfilade manner, with direct access from the vestibule to the main living room. Through the dining room, one progresses to the boudoir and then to the relocated kitchen, optimizing the overall layout. The rear of the residence maximizes square footage usage, featuring a tall storage wall seamlessly integrating pantry, refrigerator, and cabinets, offering both practicality and aesthetic appeal. In the kitchen, an oversized hood commands attention, clad in glossy white ceramic to infuse lightness into the space.
The Calacatta Viola marble countertop adds sophistication, while French doors facilitate natural light penetration and offer easy terrace access, blurring indoor-outdoor boundaries. A white oak library discreetly adjoins the boudoir, with a vintage sliding door leading to the basement and secondary entrance. Dark wood cladding creates a warm contrast, adding elegance to the space. Upstairs, bedrooms boast custom storage solutions tailored to the overall aesthetic. The shared bathroom is expanded through clever utilization of bedroom space, featuring green ceramic floor tiles and a distinctive vanity countertop. The attic is reconfigured into a welcoming family area, with the second shared bathroom renovated to optimize space utilization, integrating a bathtub with quartz cladding.
