MS Dhoni Will Play Entire IPL 2024 Season? CSK Coach Stephen Fleming Gives Update Ahead of RCB Match
Chennai: Once MS Dhoni stepped down as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings on the eve of the IPL 2024 opener versus Royal Challengers Bengaluru – the question was, will he play for the entire tournament. CSK coach Stephen Fleming has provided an update on that during the pre-match presser. Fleming has confirmed that Dhoni is going to play for the entire season of IPL 2024. The CSK coach also revealed that Dhoni’s body is much better from what it was in 2023.
“I am expecting MS Dhoni to play the complete season. His body is doing way better than last season. Dhoni has a good sense of the game, but we want to develop the young players for the role. We are well prepared this time” Fleming said during the pre-match presser in Chennai.
“It was MS Dhoni’s call with lot of consideration looking at the future. The timing was good. It will be a grooming process for Ruturaj Gaikwad,” he said on Dhoni stepping down as the leader.
This will only be just the second time that M.S. Dhoni will not start an IPL season as skipper of CSK after Ravindra Jadeja was named the captain in IPL 2022, only for him to be replaced by the legendary wicketkeeper-batter after eight matches in the season.
