‘Worst parking award,’ driver slams after leaving hardly an inch – but some think it’s the ‘best’ they’ve ever seen
A DRIVER found parked her car on a tree-lined street with dozens of spots – but it didn’t stop another motorist from parking as close as possible.
In a TikTok, a driver complained after a neighbor left what appears to be less than an inch between the cars on the public road.
“This guy [should] get the worst parking award,” the TikToker, Mina (@minashah) said in a 2022 post.
The video showed a Toyota Prius and a Mitsubishi Mirage parked on the street.
Both cars were parked so close that only a sliver of the sidewalk peered through the camera’s view as it panned by the parking job.
The TikToker said she didn’t take any action against the closely-parked car.
Both cars could seemingly quickly vacate the street-side spots because there appears to be ample room around the vehicles.
In the comments, Mina said she may have rethought the “worst parking” designation for the other driver.
“Not sure if he [should] get the best or worst parking award,” she wrote, adding laughing emojis.
The U.S. Sun reached out to the TikToker for comment on this article.
PARKING PROBLEMS
Dozens of drivers have posted allegations of bad parking all over social media.
Redditors complained about a Volvo SUV that took up two parking spaces in a public lot.
The Volvo driver left a note on the car’s dashboard saying he needed to take up both spots.
“The reason I park in 2 spaces is because someone hit my car and drove off costing me $500 to get it repaired,” the note read.
But commenters didn’t buy the explanation.
PARKING TIPS
Drivers keep complaining about rude parking - here is what to do:
- Assess the safety risk: Before taking any action, assess the situation to determine the severity of the issue. Is the car obstructing traffic flow, blocking driveways, or posing a safety hazard?
- Check local regulations: Read the local parking regulations, especially in an HOA or apartment complex. This will help with finding available actions.
- Approach with compassion: If it’s safe to do so, try speaking with the owner of the vehicle. They may not be aware that they’re parked illegally or causing inconvenience.
- Snap a pic: Take photos or videos of the illegally parked car, especially if it’s causing a significant disruption.
“[I] don’t get why people do this, just park in a quiet area of the carpark,” a commenter added.
“My car is quite big, and I do this to prevent damage; [taking] a couple extra steps to the shop isn’t a big deal.”
Another TikToker said their neighbor parked too close to the street.
“Tell me your neighbors have no social awareness without telling me,” the TikToker, Kendra (@npkendrafej), said in the post.
The neighbor’s Chevy Suburban SUV was parked covering the street’s sidewalk, according to the video.
