Jacob MacIntyre Reflects On ‘Surreal Debut’
Hibs Academy youngster, Jacob MacIntyre admitted it was a special moment to make his senior debut for his boyhood Club at the age of 18.
The teenager became the sixth member of the Hibernian FC Academy to make their senior debut, with Reuben McAllister, Kanayo Megwa, Rudi Molotnikov, Rory Whittaker and Josh Landers all receiving senior First Team minutes this season.
“It felt amazing and it happened so quickly to be honest. I couldn’t find a better Club to make my debut at and it was just a surreal feeling," Jacob told hibernianfc.co.uk.
Jacob replaced Adam Le Fondre in the 78th minute in our 3-0 win over Livingston in the cinch Premiership at Easter Road, capping off a fine display for Nick Montgomery's side.
“It was the perfect timing for it to happen against Livingston. We were 2-0 inside seven minutes and I was thinking ‘if we can get a few more goals then I might get on’ – thankfully that happened and I am really happy.
“When the Manager turned round and told me to warm up again I kind of had a feeling that it might happen.
“When I got shouted over it was an amazing feeling running back to the dugout and getting ready to go on.
“The Gaffer and Sergio were talking to me and just telling me to keep things simple and to work hard – it all happened so fast to be honest.”
Jacob now follows in the footsteps of older brother Oscar MacIntyre – who is currently on loan at Annan Athletic – who made his senior Hibs debut in May 2022.
“I couldn’t have asked for better players to be on the pitch with. Players with so much experience that were talking me through the game and that made me feel a lot more comfortable.
“After the game I could see my family in the stands and it was amazing to see them in the players lounge afterwards.
“My brother made his debut a few years ago now, hopefully in the future we can share the same pitch together.”
