Wales vs Finland betting preview
Neither nation could manage a top-two finish in their respective EURO 2024 qualifying groups.
Wales could only manage third place finish behind Turkey and Croatia in Group D, while Finland ended up behind Denmark and Slovenia in Group H, claiming third place ahead of Kazakhstan on goal difference.
But thanks to their positions in the UEFA Nations League, both countries have a second chance to get to Germany.
When the draw was made, Wales and Finland found themselves on Path A, alongside Poland and Estonia. The Poles will be hosting Estonia in Warsaw at the same time as Rob Page’s team is facing the Fins.
If Wales can see off Finland, they will face the winners of Poland and Estonia in Cardiff on Tuesday. The winners of that match will take their place at the 2024 UEFA Euros in Group D alongside the Netherlands, Austria and France.
Wales vs Finland key stats
- Wales are looking to qualify for their third successive European Championships. This was after failing to qualify for a single tournament between 1964 and 2012.
- The best Wales have performed at the championship was in 2016 when Chris Coleman’s team made it to the semi-finals.
- Finland is looking to qualify for the Euros for only the second time. They first qualified for the competition in 2020, finishing third in their group and failing to make it to the Round of 16.
- Wales have only been beaten once in their last 15 Euro qualifiers at home. The 4-2 loss came at the hands of Armenia in 2023.
- Wales are unbeaten in four against the Fins. There have been home and away friendly draws, and in the 2020 Nations League, Wales won 3-1 in Cardiff and 1-0 in Helsinki
- Wales are ranked 29 in the world. Finland is a lowly 60th.

Wales to score over 1.5 goals (Spreadex)
The Cardiff City Stadium can be a raucous place when the Welsh national team is in town, making life difficult for opponents. Furthermore, Wales has only failed to find the net twice in their last 15 home Euro qualifiers.
The hosts currently have Harry Wilson, Brennan Johnson, Daniel James and Kieffer Moore in good form for their respective club teams. There has to be a great chance they will score two or more against the Fins. And with the Welsh defence, not the most watertight, they may need to.
Back Wales to score over 1.5 goals at 11/8 with Spreadex
Over 4.5 cards (bet365)
Matches with so much riding on them can be blood and thunder encounters with plenty of physicality involved.
Throw in the potential for a good bit of time-wasting and gamesmanship late on, and a minimum of five cards looks very likely.
Back over 4.5 cards at 4/5 with bet365
Kieffer Moore to score anytime (Sky Bet)
Striker Kieffer Moore is having a great time at Ipswich Town, having scored six times in ten matches since joining the Tractor Boys on loan at the end of the winter transfer window.
Vitally important in both boxes at set pieces, most of Wales’s attacking play will go through the big target man. Although he might not be the best technical player at Rob Page’s disposal, he will still be one of the first names on the team sheet.
Given his current great run of form, he looks like a good bet to get his name on the scoresheet again for his nation.
Kieffer Moore to score at 2/1 with Sky Bet
