4 hospitalized after 3-vehicle crash on Sheridan Drive in Amherst
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Four people were hospitalized after a three-vehicle crash Thursday morning on Sheridan Drive in Amherst, the Amherst Police Department announced.
Police said at around 10:30 a.m., a United States Postal Service vehicle was traveling westbound on Sheridan near Jordan Road when it attempted to switch lanes, which caused a collision with a Ryder truck. The Ryder truck then spun into the westbound lanes, colliding with a Mazda minivan before coming to a rest.
The Ryder truck was occupied by three people, all of whom were transported to ECMC. The driver of the truck suffered serious injuries, while the two passengers had minor injuries, according to police.
Police said the driver of the USPS vehicle was taken to ECMC with minor injuries, while the occupants of the minivan also suffered minor injuries, but were not transported by EMS personnel.
A portion of Sheridan Drive was closed to traffic for over three hours Thursday due to the crash.
The crash remains under investigation and no charges have currently been filed. Drivers or residents who may have footage of the incident are asked to contact Amherst police at (716) 689-1311.
