Police respond to reports of a shooting in Troy

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Troy Police confirmed a male victim was shot on Thursday afternoon. Chief of Police Dan DeWolf says the victim was shot in front of 179 6th Avenue in Troy.

It is believed the suspect fled on foot heading south towards 102nd Street. The victim was able to communicate with police on the scene before being taken to a local hospital in a private vehicle. His condition is currently unknown.

Police say the scene is safe. Residents should expect a police presence in the area as investigations continue.
