Dragons’ Den viewers obsessed with life-changing ‘futuristic’ shower but Dragons spot reason ‘it will never work’
BBC viewers were obsessed with the life-changing “futurist” shower on Dragons’ Den, saying they would buy it immediately.
However, as impressive as the idea was, the Dragons spotted a major problem.
During Thursday night’s episode of the BBC show, Nodar “Nod” Babuadze and his son “Nik” entered the den to present their automated self-cleaning shower.
The father-son duo were seeking £50,000 for 10% and gave the Dragons a quick demonstration of what their shower could do.
It has a cleaning attachment that comes down from the ceiling to spray the walls of the shower with detergent before rinsing it.
This can be operated remotely from a mobile device.
Nik boasted about the benefits of the shower, saying “there’s no exposure to chemicals and most importantly saves you time and effort,” before adding that regular use prevents the buildup of limescale and mould.
BBC viewers were in awe of the ‘futuristic’ shower
Dragons’ Den viewers were quick to share their thoughts about the shower on X, formerly Twitter, with many saying that they would purchase the shower immediately.
“I would love to have a machine that cleans the shower for me,” one said.
“The shower is the future,” praised another.
A third added: “It’s an insane invention, but far more interesting than the usual Whole Foods and Wellness b******ks served up.”
While a fourth noted that the shower could benefit a range of people: “The shower cleaner is good for holiday sites and people with mobility issues (my elderly neighbour said just the other day that cleaning the shower is difficult)”
“I’d buy that shower cleaner. They’re a bloody nightmare to clean,” a fifth agreed.
But what did the Dragons think?
Although the shower is cheap to run, costing less than £2 per cleaning cycle, the initial purchase price of the automated shower was pretty expensive, coming in at £350, plus labour costs to install it in your shower.
Who are the richest Dragons?
EACH Dragon on the show has an impressive net worth due to their experience when it comes to business, but who is the richest?
Peter Jones – £1.157billion
Touker Suleyman – £200million
Steven Bartlett – £68million
Deborah Meaden – £50million
Sara Davies – £37million
The Dragons were pretty dubious about the cost and Nod and Nik’s marketing plan when they said they had only sold about 15 units so far.
However, they were impressed with the ingenuity of the shower and Peter commended Nod on his invention that was much more than a “novelty.” However, they felt the idea would never work with its current plan to market to homeowners.
“Look, I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything like it,” Peter Jones said, but in the end, he didn’t make an investment.
Deborah Meaden was also impressed by the shower, as she believed it was very quick and easy to operate. However, she felt that Nod and Nik weren’t targeting the right market in homeowners.
“I think that probably your best market is the commercial market, who are going to be bothered because they’re paying people to go in and clean their showers.”
However, despite connecting with the product, Deborah and the rest of the Dragons weren’t willing to invest in the business.
While Nod and Nik headed home without investment from a Dragon, Peter offered them some parting advice, suggesting they get in touch with shower head manufacturers to see how they could work together.
