Wondering about political polarization? This might be the CT event for you.
A nationally recognized speaker on political and other issues will speak on political polarization at a Connecticut event on March 26.
John Wood Jr., an author and figure in the American depolarization movement, will speak from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26 at Quinnipiac University, organizers said.
The event is free and open to the public and will be held in Quinnipiac’s Center for Communications, Computing and Engineering, Room 101, on the Mount Carmel Campus, in Hamden, according to the university.
“Wood will focus on topics related to political polarization, bridging ideological divides and fostering respectful and constructive conversations in today’s society,” the university said in a statement, noting the discussion is part of Quinnipiac’s Critical Conversation Speaker Series.
Wood is national ambassador for Braver Angels, a “grassroots, bipartisan organization dedicated to political depolarization,” according to Quinnipiac. Wood is a “nationally recognized public speaker on the subjects of political and racial reconciliation,” and has spoken across the country to a “wide range of the nation’s most respected think tanks, universities, corporations, philanthropic organizations and political associations.”
Wood’s has been published in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Washington Examiner, Quillette Magazine, Areo Magazine, Reflections (A Journal of the Yale School of Divinity), Real Clear Politics, Persuasion Magazine, The American Interest and others, according to Quinnipiac. He also is a cohost of the Braver Angels Podcast and host of The John Wood Jr. Show.
The university notes that its Critical Conversation Speaker Series aims to “foster an inclusive and intellectually stimulating environment at Quinnipiac, promoting inclusivity of thought, respectful dialogue, empathetic engagement and open-mindedness among students, faculty, and staff.”
