Former McDonald’s All-American and current NBA superstar Anthony Edwards is getting a new colorway of his Adidas AE 1 sneaker celebrating the annual high school all-star game.
The Adidas AE 1 “McDonald’s All-American” will release before the end of March as a Foot Locker-exclusive. A mismatched color scheme invokes the game’s logo, as one shoe is decorated in red and the other in blue. Both start with a white Primeknit base, as their respective primary color forms the TPU wings and heel carbon fiber heel counter. A translucent outsole brings cohesion to the two sneakers, as does a yellow Adidas logo on the heel to match the McDonald’s logo directly above.
As the longtime outfitter for the McDonald’s All-American Game, Adidas often makes colorways of its latest sneakers exclusively for those playing in it and friends and family of the brand. The release of the AE 1 for this year’s game, which will be played April 4, marks one of the rare times the general public gets a chance to purchase, and it also continues a hot streak for Edwards’ debut signature model.
Since launching in December, the AE 1 has been the buzziest sneaker in the NBA and the most heralded in years. Several of the model’s colorways have sold out, and along with the Harden Vol. 8, the shoe is acting as a catalyst for a major Adidas Basketball comeback.
The Adidas AE 1 “McDonald’s All-American” will release March 29 exclusively through Foot Locker. Pricing is set at $120.
