High school sports roundup (March 26)
Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Tuesday, March 26.
Boys lacrosse
South River 14, Langley 7: Trevor Phipps scored six goals and assisted on another to lead the Seahawks. Caden Travis totaled six points in the win with two goals and four assists. Gavin Phipps had a hat trick, while Danny Thibodeau, Ben Adams and Jack Laye also scored.
Baseball
Glen Burnie 9, Wilde Lake 0: Peyton Ingle threw a one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to lead the Gophers. Dylan Kellner had two hits and two RBIs. Jonathan Maddox, Geoffrey Drowsky and Mason Williams also drove in runs.
Havre de Grace 8, Perryville 7: The Warriors took the lead after five runs in the bottom of the first, and held off the Panthers’ seventh-inning rally. Dyllon Zachry-Nance had two hits and two RBIs in the win.
Gerstell 10, Indian Creek 0: Hayden Pittler struck out seven in a six-inning, four-hit shutout. Jack Bruffey led the offense, doubling twice, singling and driving in two runs. Travis Smith also had three hits and an RBI. Craig Meseke had a team-best three RBIs.
Softball
Fallston 4, Havre de Grace 2: Allyson Underwood doubled twice and drove in two runs to lead the Cougars past the Warriors. Maddy Burns had two hits, including a home run. The two also split time in the circle, combining on a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts.
Francis Scott Key 12, Frederick 0: Jasmine Kline threw a five-inning no-hitter, striking out nine. She also backed herself up with three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs. Emma Taff also had three hits and two RBIs and Joelle Staub also drove in a pair.
