Chennai: MS Dhoni may have stepped down as the Chennai Super Kings captain, yet he is the one who calls the shots and on Tuesday, that was evident again. New CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad checked with Dhoni if Sameer Rizvi should be sent in next. Once Dhoni gave the green signal, Gaikwad informed Rizvi that he should walk out next. The moment is winning the internet already. And Rizvi, making his debut did not disappoint. Rizvi hit a quickfire six-ball 14 in the backend of the innings.

Meanwhile, the Super Kings comfortably won the game by 63 runs and kept their winning momentum going. CSK are also top of the points table at this point of time.

“Definitely today’s game was perfect – batting, bowling and fielding, and against a team like Gujarat we needed to come up with a performance like this. In Chennai we are not sure how the wicket will be, we need to do well irrespective of batting or bowling first. Here if we have wickets in hand at the end it helps. Personally felt, Rachin batted brilliantly in the powerplay and took the game away. From there we were always ahead,” Gaikwad said after the win at the post-match presentation.
