My ‘stalker’ mum-in-law threatened to burn house down & calls 30 times a day – hubby allows it as she got him a Mercedes
FROM being too controlling to giving unwanted advice, we’ve all heard of mother-in-laws from hell.
But Amanda says her husband’s mum Yolande is an extreme case, dubbing her “psychotic woman and a control freak.”
While her husband Pierre, 38, says his mother’s money affords him a comfortable lifestyle, Amanda is at the end of her tether and sick of dealing with her know-it-all mother-in-law.
“My mother-in-law drives me absolutely crazy,” she says, appearing on US talk show Dr Phil.
“She’s a miserable human being… she’s a b***. I just doesn’t respect her.
“When my mother-in-law walks through the door, I feel like I could explode.
“If something doesn’t go her way, she starts freaking out.
“She’s also thrown matches all over the floor, pretending that she’s going to set the house on fire.
“The night before we were married, she threw a prenup, faxed it over and all of a sudden, the rules just started coming in.”
However Yolande, who wants wants her son to divorce his wife, has a rather different take and accuses Amanda of being a drunk, uneducated woman who is wrecking her son’s life.

“My daughter-in-law, she’s totally unpredictable, especially when she’s drunk,” Yolande claims.
“She really has emotional problems. She doesn’t have much education.”
A frustrated Yolande goes on to accuse the pair of “draining her finances,” adding that Amanda is a “burden” and only married her son because she “assumed he had money.”
“My son jumps for every little wish she expresses,” she continues. “He behaves like a slave.”
But as far as Amanda’s concerned, her mother-in-law is far too involved in their lives, calling “all the time – 20 to 30 time a day”.
Even Pierre admits his mum can be “very pushy” and is a “borderline stalker.”
In a bid to resolve the ever-growing tension between the family, Dr Phil asks Yolande once and for all whether she’s just a “meddling” mother-in-law who wants to get rid of her son’s wife.
“Well, I think she’s creating a huge problem,” she admits.
“She’s destroying my son’s life, both financially and career-wise because of the problem she has…
“I studied psychology and psychiatry in college, and I am confident that she is insane.”
However, a visibly upset Amanda, who is so fed up she’s even contemplating on getting a divorce, goes on to tell Dr Phil that Yolande speaks to Pierre in French so she can hide the hurtful words she’s using about her.
So, to test the theory, he reveals that his production team set up a “special” dinner for the three of them to find out whether Amanda’s right or just being paranoid.
In footage from the meal, Amanda can be seen excusing herself from the table and eavesdrops from out the back.
She then listens on as a translator reveals the conversation that takes place between Pierre and his mum – and it’s not good.
“She says that he can’t stay with a girl like that,” the translator reveals.
“She eats in a really bad manner, she’s strange, she’s got an alcohol problem, she’s saying she has already ordered a second glass of wine, she’s probably going to order a third glass at the bar.”

Amanda hits back: “When I heard my mother-in-law saying stuff about my drinking, I just wish she would realise that, yeah, I do order a lot of drinks.
“It’s because of her and I really don’t care for her opinion.
“When I heard her talking about how she thinks I’m nuts and crazy, I wanted to take my glass of wine and throw it in her face.”
Back in the studio, Amanda explains how her mother-in-law also constantly threatens them with selling the house and kicking them out if they don’t do what she wants.
Putting it simply, Dr Phil, who double-checks that Pierre does have a job, suggests that the answer is simple – the couple just need to move out.
But for Pierre, it’s not that straightforward as despite his wife being at her wit’s end, he admits he’s happy with the price he has to pay for the luxuries he has thanks to his mother – including the new Mercedes she bought him.
He goes on to explain that he could move out, but is reluctant because it’d mean: “We just would have to live in a less expensive house.”
Shocked by his response, Dr Phil tells him: “I would live under a bridge in a box before I would let somebody put those strings on me.
“If you want to reattach them, I would not wait for her to sell that house, I would pack my stuff and get out.
“And I’ll tell you what else I would do, I would park that Mercedes at her curb, I would put the house keys on the dash and I would tell her if she wants to be in my life that she is going to have to respect my independence and my wife, it’s just that simple.”
