I transformed my tired-looking garden fence using a 23p bargain buy – it’s a total lifesaver & saved me so much time
WITH wet and windy weather conditions over the winter, chances are your garden fence is looking a little worse for wear.
So, if you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful way to spruce up your garden fence in an instant, ready to host family and friends over Easter weekend, then you’re in luck.
That’s because one savvy homeowner has revealed the 23p trick she uses to help reach those “annoying corners” and “hard to reach places.”
And it’s all thanks to a sponge – yep, you heard right!
Taking to TikTok, the DIY whizz could be seen dipping the kitchen staple into a pot of paint, before then gliding it over the wooden panels of the fence.
In fact, the social media user was so impressed with the results, she branded her sponge hack a total “lifesaver.”
It wasn’t long before the post went viral, garnering a whopping 149k views and several comments from social media users.
Many revealed they’ve also seen great success both indoors and outdoors when decorating with a sponge rather than roller.
“I can’t use a roller to save my life I use a car sponge to paint my walls,” wrote one.
A second noted: “You need a bigger sponge. I did this last year and must say took less time than the paint sprayer.”
Elsewhere, others shared alternative cheap and cheerful suggestions, with one writing: “Bought a paint sprayer for £10 – best money ever spent.”
Another urged: “Use a grout sponge, harder wearing or a paint sprayer done 30 panels in 1h 30min.”
However, when it came to using a paint sprayer, one homeowner issued a word of warning.
“Be careful the people who owned my house before must have done it on a windy day the windows, slabs & brickwork also had a spray,” they said.
Meanwhile, a few others suggested another 99p bargain buy that could do the job.
“A tanning mitt is better if you don’t have a sprayer,” one person wrote.
A further agreed: “I saw a few people using a tan mitt also.”
